Here at D7, we have an opening for a Principal Designer - a unique role in design and build - with a particular focus on managing risk and safety.
A Principal Designer (PD) is a key, legally required role under CDM 2015 regulations, responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase of a project. Appointed by the client, they ensure designers eliminate risks and cooperate with contractors to ensure safety. D7 Recruitment is actively sourcing for this role, with positions available in construction and manufacturing in the Midlands.
We would ideally like to engage with someone from a strong engineering background. They will have delivered design / pre construction work previously, acting as PD, Project Engineer, Project Manager, Consultant etc. They will have the ability to read and interrogate engineering designs and be able to identify hazards, risks, safety concerns and areas of improvement from the outset - utilising site walk throughs and engineering / architectural designs. An understanding of Health and Safety, CDM, Building Regulations is a natural requirement for the role, but the Engineering and Design awareness is a key skill that we want to tap into.
Core Responsibilities of a Principal Designer
We have a range of projects underway across the West Midlands, supporting an appointed PD as they deliver construction programmes for some of the UK's leading Automotive and Food/Beverage Producers with their factory and facilities upgrades and new builds. We also have major projects underway at one of largest airports in the Midlands - so any Aviation experience would be very welcome.
If you have experience as a PD and you would like a role that offers variety, professional development and training, great management support, a business with strong values and a safety first approach to design and construction, we would love to hear from you.
